Robbie retired into a 10-acre paddock outside of our kitchen window, Dom, a black Trakehner Stallion and Flip, a large Thoroughbred, joined Nathans team of horses. Nathan went on to win the 2016 Boneo Melbourne CDI Reserve Champion, Sydney CDI Grade V 2 second placings, Grade V Champion, 2017 Brisbane CDI Grade V Para equestrian Champion, 2017 Qld State Champion Grade V Champion.
Meet Nathan Harvey 31, Visually and Intellectually Impaired, riding in Para Equestrian FEI Competition, Open EA Competition and Special Olympics.
Nathan began riding Competitive Dressage on Robbie, owned by Sharon Ashwood. Robbie taught Nathan so much and became his  seeing eye horse guide.
Peter Williams Riding Apparel offered Sponsorship in 2013 to a partnership known as Nathan and Robbie the Wonder-horse. Nathan and Robbie Competed in the National Special Olympics and they qualified for the 2014 Nationals hosted in Melbourne. Nathan came home with a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal – just not enough to be selected for the 2015 World Games in Los Angeles. Nathan decided to ride in Open EA events and Para equestrian Grade V – his 4-year plan was to improve his riding skills competing amongst our top Australian Riders, hoping to be selected for the next Special Olympic World Games.
A New Mare is joining the team, Summer owned by Sheffield B&B Tamworth, and two youngsters to train up in the paddock.
Nathans riding skills had improved out of sight, he came last a lot and learned each time from his mistakes. Many tried to pull Nathan down, but he always came back on top ready for another competition. Those many became few until they did not matter anymore. Nathan began competing against himself.
2018 Nathan’s plan included riding Open Equestrian Australia Competitions, Nathan eventually won his first Open EA Class! winning the EA Novice classes on both Dom scoring 68% & 74% at Grafton NSW and Flip at Maryborough 2 Star with a 66% and 68%.
Nathan was selected for the Qld Special Olympics Team to compete at the Adelaide Nationals 2018, he rode his heart out on a lovely Clydie Cross and won Gold Silver and bronze.

Nathan was selected to ride for Australia at the Special Olympics World Games hosted by Abu Dhabi United Emirates in March 2019. This is the thrill of Nathans life, living his dream to compete for his country.
